A Shepherd’s Introduction
Willowfen Retreat is a beautiful duck egg blue Shepherd’s hut accessed via it’s own private gravel track and surrounded by a cute fenced garden with views across the most stunning Norfolk vista.

Willowfen Retreat run by Amanda Sedgwick, is beautifully appointed, decorated and maintained abode away from the main property where peace and tranquillity are a priority and a perfect base for exploring the Fens, Wash and Broads. In fact it’s a fantastic base to explore the surrounding market towns and cities on day trips as well as maybe spending some down time relaxing in your own private oasis.

Inside Willowfen Retreat Norfolk Shepherd’s Hut
Saunter up to the three rope lined banistered steps through the garden and enter your compact but bijoux living quarters. Before you, your eyes will be drawn to a window with views into the field where Coco and little Palomino Candy, the owner’s Ponies gracefully wander and below the window you’ll see two blue upholstered chairs with cushions separated by a vase of colourful florals.

Immediately you’ll notice the duck egg blue colour scheme is incorporated seamlessly inside the hut intertwined in soft furnishings in the form of checks, animal prints and complimenting hues including in the fabrics, kitchen crockery and linens.

The bed spans the entire width of the right side adorned with a window and shutters, extra blankets for colder times as well as cute cushions, alarm clock, television and two fluffily grey bath robes, for your comfort. Cosy vibes galore. There is also space to store your luggage and unwanted items in the under bed cupboard.

Move into the kitchen space, and as well as all cutlery, glassware, crockery cooking utensils, a selection of teas, coffees, condiments and pans, there’s a microwave, two ring integrated induction hob and a fridge. All washing and cleaning products are also provided.

For those cooler days you’ll find a hobbit stove complete with complimentary eco friendly coffee logs to burn. Candles and cute farm artefacts decorate and make up the cute interiors of the Shepherd’s hut retreat.

Additionally, there are DVD’s, board games, books and lots of information about things to do in the area to help you make the most of your trip.
Through the kitchen space is the ensuite bathroom featuring a shower, basin, WC with plenty of soft towels and a range of toiletteries included.

The Outdoor Fenced Garden
We particularly loved the outdoor space and the amenities of the fenced area. Wooden sun lounges with cushions, reclining chairs, wooden garden seating with shade, a barbecue for you to enjoy as well as a classy gas fire pit. The garden is interspersed with pretty potted fresh plants making this the perfect place to relax after a long day exploring the surroundings. A true haven that you can call solely your own during your stay.

Guests also benefit from having private parking beside the Shepherd’s hut making things very convenient for loading and unloading of items from your days out!

Willowfen Retreat Norfolk Sustainability Efforts
The host’s effort to be green didn’t go unnoticed as food products are sourced fresh and locally with the use of eco friendly clearing and washing products. Instead of wood, coffee logs are provided for burning. There is minimal use of plastic products and recycling bins are provided adjacent to the hut. Additionally, any waste water from the shepherd’s hut was fed to a cesspit system located towards the back of the garden.

Lasting Impressions
A while after you checkin to the property, Amanda adds the personal touch by dropping by to say hello and ensuring everything is OK. Amanda also leaves instructions to contact incase there’s anything you may need during your stay.

Special Touches
A really nice touch is Amanda’s welcome basket, which includes, bread, butter, jam, fresh eggs, a bottle of milk, biscuits, hot chocolate complete with marshmallows and Prosecco to help you settle in. We love these special touches as they are truly what makes a stay memorable.
