Seafood is in abundance due to the areas proximity to the coast. Bibby’s Coffee Van Mumbles Bay

Foodie Spots: Bibbys Coffee Van

Locate the purple van on the Mumbles Bay seafront and grab a coffee and Welsh cakes, take a pew and enjoy! Just simple great coffee, oat milk available and service comes with a huge smile sip on your coffee and watch the promenading of the locals.

Penllergare Café, Pennlergare Valley Woods

An open space overlooking the pretty woodland gardens at Penllergare is a friendly and welcoming coffee shop serving the best in homemade cakes and their own speciality blend of coffee, and other hot and cold drinks. There’s a great variety of options for vegetarians as well as vegans in the form of sweet treats but also are well versed in Soya and oatmeal milks for your hot beverage requirements.

A great stop to refuel post walk or before your trek, they even do special ice-cream and treats for the doggies!

Additionally the café is staffed by super friendly Queens Award winning volunteers who do a sterling job.

The Lookout Rhossili

The Lookout, Rhossili Bay

Owned by two local lads, Steve & Simon, this cosy and cute café and shop is all sourcing and serving seasonal and local produce including delicious locally baked sweet treats. Set in the most beautify location in Gower only a stone’s throw from Rhossili beach, expect locally made ice-cream, award winning artisan pasties, sandwiches and paninis, Welsh Brew Tea, the famous Gower Coffee, Cold drinks, Welsh gifts and souvenirs and beach essentials. Oh and they also do a a special sunset pizza offer.

The staff are super friendly, helpful and the personal service is excellent with lots of local tips thrown in. The coffees are superb too!

The perfect refuelling spot after walking out to Worm’s head or the beach.

Be-lavie recommendation: veggie or regular full breakfast is a great option not forgetting a raspberry and white chocolate blondie to go for your onward journey!

El Pescuador, Swansea

A Spanish restaurant located on Swansea’s SA1 waterfront, serves up quite the storm in the form of locally sourced and sustainable produce, together with a fusion of authentic Spanish delicacies. The service is fab as is the knowledge of the staff and the freshest of flavours with great quality ingredients comes through.

Be-lavie Recommendations: A fine bottle of the Don Placero Rioja. To start, Padron peppers with homemade Mojo sauce or Calamari strips with aioli. For Mains, Roasted Cauliflower on a bed of Red Mojo Sauce Served with Fresh Tomato, Olives Salsa & Flaked Almonds accompanied by paprika fries or Whole Baked Bream “Al Sobre” cooked in a papillote style Stuffed with Samphire & Lemon Served on a bed of Roasted Peppers & Garlic, with a side of paprika new potatoes. For dessert, the Spanish Churros with Dipping Hot Chocolate for the win.

Best Places to Dine: The Shared Plate

The Shared plate is a community interest company, which places people and food at its core. Their ethos is that good food should be shared by all without the cost of our planet or the lives of those working to produce it. The Shared Plate’s aim is quite simple, to provide delicious, sustainable sourced local food to the local community and visitors to the area. They truly are re-imagining the way the food system must be moving forwards, with local seasonal, low carbon and tasty food made on site. The Shared Plate also has a zero-waste shop so take your empty containers and stock up!

Be-lavie recommendations: sampling from the specials board. Some great options included, Heres are some favourites, mushroom and tarragon soup with sourdough, crispy polenta cake with burnt tomato sauce and grand Padano, Local mussel and sweetcorn chowder, plum pudding. Oh and the blackberry mimosas are pretty good but alternatively they have a great selection of lemonade.

The ethos of The Shared Plate and the community work they are doing with reducing food waste it’s incredibly inspiring, which genuinely makes it one of the best places to dine in the area.

Overlooking the very picturesque Swansea Bay, The Secret Garden prides itself on the modern design and quality food prepared fresh. The menu is very much a fine mix of contemporary and modern British with some authentic Welsh dishes too. A perfect spot for a date night – choose to sit inside in a booth, beside the heaters on the terrace or in the open bar area, you won’t be disappointed. Pop in for snacks and one of their fancy hot chocolates during the day or dine in style in the evening, the choice is yours.

Oh and for dessert the S’mores brownie with marshmallows or opt for the Crunchie hot chocolate!

Best places to dine: Forte's ice-cream parlour

Forte’s Ice Cream parlour is synonymous with Mumbles, first set up in 1936, and is quite the Mumbles constitution famous for its homemade recipe. The family business, run for three generations by the Macaris, is located overlooking Limeslade Bay with a stunning view looking out towards the sea.

Sit outside or take a seat indoors and sample the delicious ice-cream with views over Bracelet Bay. A great stop off to and from walking the coastal path to Langland Bay.

Be-lavie recommendations: Go wild and grab a double cone with a scoop of traditional creamy strawberry and a second scoop of orange Baileys!

Giving its location Forte’s may be one of the best places to grab a local ice-cream before, during or at the end of your walk along the coastal path!
