Vegetarians and veggie food lovers, if you’ve ever dined somewhere and thought your dining options don’t quite match up with those of our meat-eating counter parts, well the Grove at Narberth is here to set the record straight on how vegetarian food is in a complete league of its own.

The Grove Vegetarian Dining

The luxury Grove hotel, set in the rolling hills of Narberth in Pembrokeshire, not only is an outstandingly beautiful country hotel providing tranquillity and outstanding luxury, but the food is absolutely exquisite. The vegetarian menus and food options have been crafted to perfection and on a par with the regular non-vegetarian offerings. At the Grove you will not find that Goats cheese, lentils or mushrooms have been used to pad out the menu but infact time, effort and thought has been consumed in presenting a fine palette of flavours relationships and presentations from predominantly the humble vegetable.

The Artisan Rooms

Food at The Grove is sourced locally and inspired by the best of Welsh ingredients and served in a variety of environments from breakfast in the bright and airy garden terrace rooms, lunch or a relaxed dinner in the Artisan Rooms, drinks and canapes in the cosy bar, an intimate taster and wine flight paired soiree at The Fernery or maybe even an afternoon tea on the lawn. You and your taste buds will be sure to leave The Grove with lasting foodie memories.

The Breakfast Room: The Grove Vegetarian Dining

The Grove Vegetarian dining: Wicker Room Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the sun drenched, wicker basket themed room with vegetarian options such as Welsh natural yoghurt with an apricot and vanilla compote, honey granola and orange zest, poached pineapple, passionfruit and mango and coconut chia pudding, fresh fruit salad to start followed by an alternative traditional vegetarian breakfast where even the black pudding has been substituted.

Warm croissants and conserves, a mixture of toasted breads a Grove blend of coffee, teas and juices are also available. Not to forget pancake lovers, will adore the buttermilk stack topped with blueberries, maple syrup, and crème fraiche.

A Relaxed Lunch or Dinner: The Grove Vegetarian Dining

The Artisans room make for a lovely long relaxing lunch or dinner spot, overlooking the garden terrace again using the best of local ingredients and once again the vegetarian options use seasonal ingredients and were delightful.

The main, a risotto of peas, mint, broad beans and topped with the slight of crunch of peas and the al dente arborio rice.

Mint & Pea Vegetarian Risotto

To finish, the perfectly comforting hug on a plate, sticky toffee pudding with a scattering of pecans and vanilla cream.

Pre-Dinner DrinkS & Canapes

Fancy evenings at The Grove start with drinks and canapés in the cosy atmospheric bar, with comfy seating and a small plates menu.

The Grove Vegetarian dining: Cocktails at the Grove

The Grove’s signature summer cocktail came highly recommended by the sommelier – In the Grove Garden, which contains some home-made honey from the resident bees in the garden amongst other things and a perfect pre-dinner Negroni followed by well executed seasonal canapes, one of which was included tapioca.

7 Course Vegetarian Tasting Menu with Wine Flights

The Fernery Restaurant

Probably my favourite of all dining experiences at The Grove, there is a special vegetarian pairing menu available in 5, 7 and 10 courses with a carefully selected selection of paired wines.

The Fernery Vegetarian Tasting Menu

The Executive head Chef, Douglas Balish, is inspired by the location of the hotel and its surroundings combining the selection of vegetables and herbs picked daily from the kitchen gardens with a focus on delivering a fine balance of flavours with a. touch of elegance and contemporary clean presentation. It is no wonder The Fernery fine dining restaurant has been awarded 3 AA Rosettes.

Wine Flight: The Grove Vegetarian Dining

Each course comes beautifully paired with wines from around the world to enhance the flavour of each dish, as chosen by the chefs and sommelier team.

Course 6: Perl Las – Eccles Cake, Celery

Perl Las, an organic blue cheese meaning ‘blue pearl’ in Welsh is paired with an Eccles cake and works wonderfully with the lingering blue cheese taste and sweet currants. A celery granita to cleanse the palette to end.

Course 7: Tulakalum Chocolate – Ginger, Lemon, Coriander

Tulakalum, a chocolate I have only ever tried in its native country, Belize, allows the ginger lemon and coriander to shine through yet remain subtle.

The Vegetable Garden & Fruit Kitchen Garden

The Grove boasts a fantastic Kitchen Garden, producing over 70 varieties of vegetables, summer fruits and herbs for the restaurant, meaning only the freshest ingredients from earth to plate within hours. Additionally, the fine team of gardeners ensure the soil is managed organically, in line with sustainable practices at the core of the hotels policy.

The Grove Vegetarian dining: Red Onions used in the Vegetarian Menu

The attention to detail of accommodating vegetarian food lovers at The Grove Narberth has truly left a stamp on the palette and shall forever be a wonderful memory of superbly crafted menus, the freshest produce, well executed flavours somewhere the vegetarian food lovers can feel on a par with other diners. How the best memories of food should be…
